Evergreen small tree. Native.
Flowering: September-December.
Fruiting: The following September-December.

Small creamy bell-shaped flowers appear at same time as fruit from previous years flowers. Red fruit, round, warty. Edible but tasteless. Evergreen leaves, toothed, pointed. Dark green above, paler below. Reddish-brown bark, peeling with age. Height: to 12m

Found on heathy scrub and open oak woodland on shallow soil. Previously more abundant in Ireland, now only found as native in Co.Cork and Co.Kerry. Part of the Lusitanian Flora.
